Hello everyone and Happy New Year,

I hope this finds each and every one of you well and happy to be greeting the New Year. If not, perhaps you would find an inspirational romance helpful?

That’s the really great thing about romance; it has something for everyone. Every year, the genre expands and complies with the reader’s requests and needs. And every year the scope of romance gets wider, more inclusive meaning more choices. I’ve always thought that readers wanted a wide variety. And I am an emotional reader, in other words, I read what I need for my state of mind at the time. Try it some time. While it may leave you musing as to why you might have four or five books going at once, you’ll have everything you need to keep a good frame of mind. Who knew?

In line with that, I’m currently writing a medical romance, a mystery, a time-travel and a western romance. So stay tuned and keep up with me.

Now, who won the last quarter drawing on my website? Jeff and Sheila Green of Tempe, Arizona. They’ve won their pick of my backlist. I’ll let them know via their email or perhaps they’ll check back here before then. How to increase your chances of winning one of my novels? Just sign my guestbook or send me an email with Quarterly Drawing in the subject line Susan@SusanYarina.com and you’re in like flint.

My son, Martin and his wife Jennifer just left for home (in Nebraska—brrr cold) after being home for the holidays. We are already missing them. The good news is, they plan to move back home to Arizona. Dad and I couldn’t be happier.

My daughter Natalie, and her husband Rob, visited from Denver over Christmas and we had a great time showing Rob the sights around here. We did a drive into the Canyon Lakes area and across Roosevelt Dam. It was good for us to get back to where we took the kids a lot when they were little. They both kept saying, “gosh, this is prettier than the Grand Canyon” and I think it might be true. Enormous rocky crags spear the turquoise sky in a myriad of shapes and sizes. It is clear to anyone who looks that this is an evolving mountain range and you can see the striations that signal upheaval and change everywhere. Water spouts from hidden springs (like the one found in TimeRider). The colors of rock are amazing and you can see why everyone believes there is treasure in these ore-rich mountains. Trees, shrubs and grasses are sparked with the colorful growth that good fall rains can bring and everywhere a sense of hidden life abounds.

So, come and find out more about my desert home in my 2006 novels Angel Reluctant (medical romance) and Best Man for the Job (western romance) and welcome to Arizona where everyone’s friendly and the sunsets are spectacular.

Happy Reading and Happy Trails,

Susan Yarina
